FINANCE DEPARTMENT

CLERK III  (Part Time)

 

The City of Wayne is accepting applications for a Clerk III (Part Time). 

                                                                             

Salary Range:            $10.062 ~ approximately 10 hours per week.

 

Responsibilities:         Basic office duties including but not limited to sorting incoming mail, preparing outgoing mail, cashiering, and filing.

 

Qualifications:           Must have a High School diploma or successful completion of the General Educational Development test (GED) including or supplemented by courses in typing and computer operations. Must be detailed oriented and organized.

POLICE OFFICER-RECRUIT

 (Police Academy Sponsorship)

 

The City of Wayne is accepting applications for Police Officer Recruit (Police Academy Sponsorship). This position is for non licensed applicants. Candidates who are hired for this position will be sent to a 17 week Michigan Police Academy to begin in January of 2019. Upon successful completion of the Police Academy, the recruit will be promoted to entry level Police Officer and must complete the City of Wayne Police Department’s Field Training Officer program.

 

Qualifications include at a minimum:

 

a.         Must be a U.S. citizen, 21 years or older at time of graduation from the academy.

b.         Associtates Degree required at time of application.  

c.         Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and good driving history.

d.         No felony convictions and/or disqualifying criminal history.

e.         Possess good moral character as determined by a favorable, comprehensive, and extensive background investigation covering school and employment records, home environment, and personal traits and integrity.

f.          Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on an overtime basis.

g.         Ability to successfully pass background investigation, psychological evaluation, interview process and drug/alcohol screen.

h.         Must take and pass the EMPCO test to be considered for employment and provide proof of successful completion at the time of application. Details about exam are available at https:/www.empco.net/testing.

i.          Must have passed the M.C.O.L.E.S reading, writing and physical fitness tests and provide proof of successful completion at the time of application.

j.          You must be available for the entire training academy and pass the MCOLES State Licensing Exam for police officers at the end of the academy.

 FIREFIGHTERS

 

The City of Wayne is currently accepting applications for the purpose of establishing a Fire Fighter eligibility list.  Applicants must be a citizen of the United States (Birth Certificate or Naturalization Papers required at time of application). High school diploma or GED (presented with application);. Minimum qualifications include State of Michigan Advanced Life Support/Paramedic license within a year of hire, and successful completion of Fire Fighter I and II Firemanship Courses and  Conference of Western Wayne (CWW) Written and Physical Agility Testing. Proof of all the above must be submitted with application.  Possession of current, valid Michigan driver's license and an excellent driving record with no more than three (3) points on current driving record.

SCHOOL RESOURCE POLICE OFFICER

MINIMUM 5 YEARS POLICE EXPERIENCE

 

The City of Wayne is accepting applications for Part Time School Resource Officer.  Salary  $25.85/hr. Upon completion of training, officers will be assigned to Wayne Memorial High School and Franklin Middle School as the School Resource Officer.  The position is 28 hours per week with some nights and weekends as requested. Applicants must conform to employment standards as set by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (M.C.O.L.E.S.).

WAYNE POLICE DEPARTMENT
POLICE SERVICE AIDE PROGRAM

 
Starting Pay Rate: $12.00/Hr (Part Time/Up to 28 hours per week)

 Qualifications:

  1. File a properly completed application, which is acceptable to the City of Wayne, and provide satisfactory responses to requests for additional information,
  2. Citizen of the United States.
  3. Be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  4. Possess a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate.
  5. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  6. Have no more than two (2) hazardous traffic violations in the preceding five years, or a total of no more than four (4) points on or after the date of application. The accident history, regardless of fault, will be considered in the appraisal of the applicant’s overall driving skills and, therefore, eligibility.
  7. Have no prior felony convictions.
  8. Any misdemeanor charges and convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility of the applicant.
  9. Pass a drug test, checking for the presence of illicit controlled substances.
  10. Pass the department’s Oral Review Board.
  11. Pass the department background investigation.
  12. Pass a fingerprint check.
  13. An interview with the Police Chief or his designee will be conducted, the results of which will be considered in the applicant’s overall suitability for employment.
