Animal Ordinance Enforcement
The Animal Ordinance Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing Wayne's animal ordinance. Many of his duties include investigating complaints of animal abuse, animal bites, stray animals, and licensing violations. The Animal Ordinance Enforcement Officer can be contacted by calling the animal shelter at 734-721-1643. If you wish to report a violation or have an animal complaint, you may also contact the police department at 734-721-1414.
The City's Animal Control Ordinance requires the wearing of a license tag by all dogs four months of age or older and further provides that only two dogs may be licensed per residential household. The regular renewal licensing period is from the beginning of January through the end of February.
